BART CROW BAND DIARY

So much to say, so much to say. This past month has been pretty good in the BCB world. There have been some great gigs and there have been some so-so gigs. Recently, the BCB had the privilege of playing at Carl's Corner for Willie's pre-picnic party. Just to be in the same area as some of the greats was a treat. Of course we stuck around to see Willie and friends jam it out a little bit.

That leads us to the first BCB tour of the Midwest. The trip started out at Remington Park Casino, which is not really a great place to play as far as crowd response, but it's a good stop on the way to other gigs and lets people that probably would never hear the band a little taste.

The cornerstone gig of the trip (and the outmost point the band has played) was the Snorty Horse Saloon show. I would like to thank Steve, Mandy, and staff for making us feel welcome and giving us a food and a cool place to stay for the night. Their slogan is "the Best Texas Roadhouse in Missouri." However, if the bar was anywhere in TX it might rank on the top roadhouses here as well. If you ever make it out to Mt. Vernon (not where George Washington lived) try to catch a show. They book all of the best talent from Texas and Oklahoma. It was also a cool show because the BCB opened for Reckless Kelly. They rocked the casbah like they always do and it was a pleasure to share the stage with them. Hopefully, we'll be returning soon.

Saturday night the band played at Dirty's Tavern in Stillwater, home of the Cowboys of OSU. Even though it was summer, people came out to play pool and drink with their cronies. That's a great area for texas/red dirt music because of the colleges and other great bands that have come from the region.

I'm sorry to have taken so long to write. Now there's three people that will have something to read tonight.

Word to the wise: Never eat at the Alcapulco in Oklahoma City... trust me.
